Japanese businessmen interested in Ukrainian project ‘State in Smartphone’

President Volodymyr Zelensky at a meeting with the leadership of the Japan Association of New Economy (JANE) in Tokyo has told about the Ukrainian IT sector and the project “State in Smartphone,” according to the president’s press service.

"We plan to develop innovative infrastructure by opening business incubators, accelerators and innovation platforms, opening symbolic R&D centers of world corporations, creating innovative or startup platforms at higher education institutions," Zelensky said.

He also stressed that the IT sector is one of the most dynamic in Ukraine, and informed about plans for its development, in particular, about improvement of the legal field and system of taxation in the IT sector and development of the national innovation system.

The Ukrainian president also told about digitization reform and informed about Ukraine's intention to create a competitive IT product.

“In the Western world, our IT professionals are considered as cheap labor. It is important for us to change this. We want to create an IT product and sell it in the world,” Zelensky said.

According to the president’s press service, Japanese businessmen became interested in the project "State in Smartphone”.

Representatives of the association told Zelensky about examples of the most successful innovative projects for the use of artificial intelligence in Japan, which have already proven effectiveness in various areas of life. These include tourism, entertainment and cybersecurity.

As Ukrinform reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky on October 21-24 is on an official visit in Japan where he attended the ceremony of enthronement of the Japanese emperor.
