Deputy minister: Energy markets in Ukraine should react to global trends

The energy markets in Ukraine need to move closer to European ones and react to global trends.

"We need to create transparent market conditions that will foster competition. Energy products are common market products. There should be many buyers and many sellers on the market. No one should be able to set prices at their own discretion. In addition, fuel and energy complex should clearly react to global trends towards reducing the cost of energy resources. For the next two months, our main goal is to introduce energy markets in Ukraine," Deputy Energy and Environmental Protection Minister of Ukraine Vitaliy Shubin said during an hour of questions to the Government, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He stressed that the Parliament should focus on passing the bills needed to implement the Third Energy Package in Ukraine.

"We need to ensure the adoption of appropriate legislation that will allow connecting Ukraine with Europe's energy systems," Shubin added.
