State Tax Service intends to reduce number of audits

Chairman of the State Tax Service Serhiy Verlanov has said that the State Tax Service intends to reduce the number of audits - only risk taxpayers will be checked.

He stated this at a meeting with the Lithuanian-Latvian delegation headed by Head of the State Tax Inspectorate under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania Edita Janusiene and Director General of the State Revenue Service of the Republic of Latvia Ieva Jaunzeme.

"The number of audits will be significantly decreased, only risk payers will be checked," reads the report.

According to Serhiy Verlanov, the State Tax Service intends to build partner relationships with taxpayers on a partnership basis.

“Our main task is to ensure the voluntary payment of taxes. For this purpose we need to develop services, so that the communication with tax authorities will be as comfortable as possible,” he said.

The State Tax Service also intends to change the approach to judicial appeal. “High quality of work of the tax lawyers regarding the reduction of number of the tax audits is what we are currently planning,” said Verlanov.

Representatives of the Lithuanian-Latvian delegation noted the importance of reducing the number of tax audits, which will allow focusing only on those taxpayers who possess the risk of non-payment of funds to the budget.
