Ukraine resumes electricity imports from Russia - Ukrenergo

Ukrenergo National Power Company recorded a resumption of electricity imports from Russia on October 1, company spokesperson Maria Tsaturian has told Ukrinform.

"Yes, it started," she said when asked whether Ukraine resumed electricity imports from Russia.

According to media reports, electricity is supplied by a private company United Energy, which is connected with the interests of Ukrainian businessman Ihor Kolomoisky.

On October 18, the Verkhovna Rada lifted restrictions on electricity imports from Belarus and Russia and on the sale of such electricity in the market of bilateral agreements. Previously, electricity from non-member countries of the Energy Community could only be sold on the day-ahead market and on the balancing market.
