Ukraine intends to join EU energy market in 2025 – PM Honcharuk

Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk has stated that Ukraine intends to integrate into the European energy market in 2025.

He said this at a meeting with President of the Republic of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid, according to the Government portal.

“Our countries have shared historical experience. I believe that Ukraine eventually will be in the European family, and we will meet again as part of unification,” Honcharuk said.

According to him, Ukraine intends to liberalize the energy market and abandon the Soviet-style Housing and Labor Codes, adopted in the 1960s and which are completely ineffective. He also told about Ukraine’s interest in the Estonian experience of integration into the European energy market.

"We intend to join the European energy market as early as 2025," Honcharuk said.

The Ukrainian prime minister also added that the government is interested in a deeper understanding of Estonia's experience in developing “the state in a smartphone" project and applying modern technologies in state management, as Estonia was the first in the world to introduce the concept of e-governance.
