Ukrainian government to halve paper consumption

Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Dmytro Dubilet has promised to halve the amount of paper used by the Ukrainian government.

"I pledge at least to halve paper consumption at the Cabinet of Ministers next year," Dubilet wrote on Instagram.

He said he was shocked when he had recently been shown the budget for paper consumption.

"Getting rid of paper is not about the environment (though it is important). It's about inefficient business processes, about thousands of officials and millions of citizens who waste their time and talents in vain. We will simplify and digitize the process," Dubilet added.

On September 9, Dubilet ordered to stop the purchase by the government of unnecessary stationery, including notebooks stamped in gold foil.
