Agrarian Policy Ministry initiates annual signing of memorandum with grain market participants

The Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry has initiated the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the ministry and participants of the grain market on the volume of grain exports in 2019/2020, according to the ministry’s press service.

“The memorandum between the Agrarian Policy Ministry and participants of the grain market is an important and traditional document, which we will sign for the ninth time this year. All the previous eight years, the practice of signing was successful and allowed us to interact within the agreed positions and ensure both export predictability and stability of the grain market in the country,” said Olena Kovaliova, Deputy Agrarian Policy and Food Minister.

In September, an acceptable balance of exports will be determined, and appropriate annexes signed. According to preliminary data released by the Agrarian Policy Ministry, the expected production of grain crops in 2019 will amount to 71.1 million tonnes, including 27.8 million tonnes of wheat.

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Agrarian Policy Ministry and market participants has been concluded since 2011. The document provides for interaction of grain market participants, exchange of information, monitoring of the grain market.
