Ukraine’s Kherson region plans to restore ferry service to Turkey

Ferry travel between Ukraine and Turkey will resume in the near future, according to Head of Kherson Regional State Administration Yuriy Husev.

“We will make efforts so that this autumn we can restore ferry service to Turkey,” Husev said during a visit to Skadovsk Sea Port on Thursday.

According to Acting Director of Skadovsk Sea Port Oleksandr Lytvynenko, the port is ready to accept vessels with a draft of up to 5 meters. However, there is a problem with ferries with such a draft. “We are negotiating with a Greek company, and I will promptly inform about potential investors that can be involved,” he said.

As Ukrinform reported, ferry travel between Skadovsk and Zonguldak (Turkey) was canceled in February 2014.
