Ukraine exceeds last year’s rates of harvesting by one third - State Statistics Service

At the beginning of July, the rates of harvesting grains and leguminous crops in Ukraine exceeded last year’s rates by 28.9%, while harvest volumes - by 42.9%, according to the data provided by the State Statistics Service.

As of July 1, 2019, 5.33 million tonnes of grains and leguminous crops were gathered in Ukraine, which is by 42.9% more year-over-year. These crops were collected from an area of 1.58 million hectares, which is 28.9% more than as of July 1, 2018. The yield of harvested grains and leguminous crops at the beginning of July 2019 amounted to 33.7 centners per hectare, a 10.9% increase year-over-year.

In particular, as of July 1, 2019, Ukrainian farmers harvested 2.8 million tonnes of winter wheat (an increase of 43.1% year-over-year) from an area of 812.5 thousand hectares (an increase of 28.3%) at a yield of 34.4 centners per hectare (an increase of 11.3% ); 1.99 million tonnes of winter barley (an increase of 29.2% from 547 thousand hectares (an increase of 20.7%) at a yield of 36.3 centners per hectare (an increase of 7.1%); 261 thousand tonnes of peas (an increase of 150.9%) from an area of 118.7 thousand hectares (an increase of 43.6%) at a yield of 22.0 centners per hectare (an increase of 74.6%).

As reported, as of July 1, 2018, agrarians harvested 3.7 million tonnes of grains and leguminous crops in Ukraine (315% more compared with the same period in 2018) from an area of 1.2 million hectares (363% more) at a yield of 33.7 centners per hectare (10.3% less).
