Russia sharply increases gas transit through Ukraine due to repair of Nord Stream pipeline strings

Due to the repair of two pipeline strings of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, Russia’s Gazprom has sharply increased gas transit volumes to the EU through the Ukrainian gas transmission system (GTS), the press service of Ukrtransgaz JSC reports.

“In connection with the repair of two gas pipeline strings of the Nord Stream bypass pipeline, PJSC Gazprom increased a request for gas transit to the EU through the Ukrainian GTS by 25%, or 60 million cubic meters per day,” the report says.

As of the morning of July 17, Russia’s request for gas transit was 300.2 million cubic meters per day.

According to Ukrtransgaz JSC, the Ukrainian GTS makes it possible to carry out repair and maintenance work without stopping the transit of gas.
