Gas prices in Ukraine should be reduced because of European gas prices fall - Groysman

Gas prices in Ukraine should be reduced because they have dropped in Europe, and the Cabinet of Ministers has developed all needed resolutions for this.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman stated this during the Svoboda Slova talk show on Monday evening, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“I support the decline in gas prices. Prices began to fall in May – this is everything I could do for this within the powers of the Government. Prices in Europe have really fallen, they should drop in Ukraine too,” said Groysman.

He recalled that in 2008, then Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko signed a memorandum with the International Monetary Fund.

“Thus, she assumed obligations that Ukrainian gas would cost as much as it costs in Europe. Then it has been fulfilled only 50%,” Groysman said.

As Ukrinform reported, NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine set the gas price for population in July at the level of UAH 4,905.67 per 1,000 cubic meters, which is UAH 648 less than the price in June
