Foreign investors’ demand for Ukrainian government bonds grown significantly

Since May 27, 2019, the portfolio of Ukrainian government loan bonds held by non-residents has grown by UAH 14.8 billion or about 35.7%. The total sum of government domestic loan bonds owned by foreign investors makes up UAH 56.23 billion.

The Finance Ministry posted the relevant report on its Facebook page.

"The demand of foreign investors for government domestic loan bonds has increased significantly. Since May 27, the portfolio of Ukrainian government loan bonds held by non-residents has increased by UAH 14.8 billion, or 35.7%. The total amount of government domestic loan bonds owned by foreign investors makes up UAH 56.23 billion, or 7.3% of the total volume of government domestic loan bonds in circulation,” reads the report.

The Finance Ministry reminded that the international central securities depository Clearstream connected the Ukrainian market to its network on May 27. Cooperation with Clearstream has contributed to the expansion of the investor base, which proves that the chosen path for the development of domestic capital market is right.
