Ukraine interested in implementing TEN-T investment projects – Klympush-Tsintsadze

Ukraine is focused on developing investment projects within the Indicative trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). The implementation of such documents, which have recently been extended to the countries of the Eastern Partnership initiative, will deepen and strengthen relations between the EU and its neighbors, including Ukraine.

Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze stated this at the meeting with European Commission’s Director-General for Mobility and Transport Henrik Hololei, according to the Government portal.

"The priority of the Ukrainian government is to ensure implementation of projects within the TEN-T investment plan and to ensure that the action plan will not remain on paper only," the Ukrainian vice prime minister said.

According to her, the plan outlines priority projects in the Eastern Partnership countries, in particular, in Ukraine. In total, they will require almost EUR 13 billion in investment. It is planned to build 4,800 kilometers of roads and railways, 6 ports and 11 logistics centers using these funds.

In addition, Ukraine counts on EU support and signing of the agreement on a common aviation space as soon as possible. This will promote the development of the Ukrainian aviation industry, increase the number of flights and the volume of passenger traffic. Ukraine is also interested in developing transnational transport corridors and joining global transport infrastructure improvement projects, said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.

Henrik Hololei, in turn, said that the EU is interested in seeing Ukraine as one of the possible transport corridors in an important logistical project - the creation of a railway transport corridor between Europe and China bypassing Russia.
