Nasalyk: State-owned enterprise management should be outside ministry’s competence

Energy and Coal Industry Minister Ihor Nasalyk has said that the function of managing state-owned enterprises should not fall within the ministry’s competence.

He stated this at a meeting with experts of the government-public initiative "Together against corruption," the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry’s press service reported.

"The ministry should be responsible for forming policy and regulatory framework in the field of energy. No economic activity of state-owned enterprises or management of their property should be coordinated by the ministry. It will eliminate any corruption risks," the minister said.

During the meeting, experts also discussed the implementation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in Ukraine (EITI), as well as the use of state-owned power distribution networks by private energy supplying companies.
