Finance Ministry expects state debt to be reduced to 49% of GDP by the end 2020

Finance Minister Oksana Markarova has stated that Ukraine’s government policy aims to reduce state debt to 49% of GDP by the end 2020.

"We are confident in the goals set in the Medium Term Debt Management Strategy, and we expect to reach 49% by the end of 2020. This is one of the most noticeable results of responsible budget policy and successful structural reforms," Markarova said, the Finance Ministry’s press service wrote on Facebook.

As Ukrinform reported, the state and state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine declined to 60.9% of GDP from 71.8% in 2017, according to the Finance Ministry. As of December 31, 2018, the state and state-guaranteed debt amounted to $78.32 billion, or UAH 2.169 trillion.
