Minister Omelyan invites Hyundai to start production of electric cars in Ukraine

Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine, Mr. Lee Yang-goo and suggested considering the possibility of placing capacities of Hyundai in Ukraine.

As the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure reports, the meeting was held in connection with the completion of Lee Yang-goo’s diplomatic mission in Ukraine.

In particular, it is noted that the Ukrainian minister invited the Korean side to consider the possibility of placing the capacities of Hyundai in Ukraine.

"We view Hyundai as a potential partner for the production of electric cars in Ukraine. The line of Hyundai electric cars is very interesting and competitive, and the market in Ukraine and in Europe is fast developing, so this direction of cooperation is extremely promising," Omelyan said.

He also noted that Hyundai passenger trains had operated well in Ukraine, and that was a good basis for further negotiations between Ukrzaliznytsia Ukrainian Railways and the said company on expanding cooperation.

Mr. Lee Yang-goo expressed a wish for Hyundai to take part in the EBRD tender for the construction of subway in Kharkiv city.

He also positively evaluated good dynamics of bilateral relations in the field of transport and infrastructure, thanked the minister for high-quality joint work and assured Volodymyr Omelyan that he would continue being a friend of Ukraine and promoting the improvement of relations between the countries.

Volodymyr Omelyan expressed gratitude to Ambassador Lee Yang-goo for his work in Ukraine and the development of bilateral transport cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea. The infrastructure minister noted that Korean companies had expanded their presence in the Ukrainian market thanks to bilateral efforts.
