National Bank expects IMF mission to visit Ukraine in mid-May

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) expects that a mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will arrive in Kyiv in the middle of May.

NBU Governor Yakiv Smoliy said this at a briefing today, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"As for the IMF mission, we look forward to its arrival in the middle of May, as planned. The mission will conduct a review of the program [Stand-By Arrangement] and, based on the results of the review, decide on the next tranche, which we expect to receive this year," Smoliy said.

As reported, on December 18, 2018, the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund approved a 14-month Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) for Ukraine worth a total of $3.9 billion.

On December 21, 2018, Ukraine received the first tranche worth $1.4 billion from the IMF.

In 2019, Ukraine expects to receive two tranches worth $1.3 billion each. One tranche in May and another one in September.
