NBU expects inflation to slow to 6.3% this year

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) expects inflation to slow down to 6.3% in annual terms this year and to 5% next year.

NBU Governor Yakiv Smolii said this at a briefing on Thursday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The National Bank continues to expect inflation to shrink to 6.3% by the end of 2019 and to 5% by the end of 2020. This will primarily be the result of tight monetary conditions and restrained fiscal policies," Smolii said.

Inflation in 2018 was 9.8%, which is the best figure over the past five years.
