Poroshenko: Wages in Ukraine have grown by 25% in dollar equivalent over past year

Wages in Ukraine grew by 25% in the U.S. dollar equivalent in the period from December 2017 to December 2018.

President Petro Poroshenko stated this at a meeting of the National Development Council in Chernivtsi region, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"The average wage in the country grew by 24.5% from December [2017] to December [2018]. These are the steps we are taking to combat poverty. Under the conditions that the dollar exchange rate totaled 28.18 in early 2018 and now it is 26.89. The exchange rate is not just the same, it has been also strengthened," said Poroshenko.

He noted that the growth of wages in foreign currency made up about 25%.

"In addition, investors ensure free fare, meals, employment benefits, including medical insurance," the president said.
