IMF mission discussed Constitutional Court decision on illicit enrichment – NBU governor

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) does not see any risks to continuing cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and obtaining further tranches in the context of the cancellation by the Constitutional Court of the clause regarding the prosecution of officials for illicit enrichment.

NBU Governor Yakiv Smolii said this at a press conference on Thursday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"A technical IMF mission was in Ukraine. The issue of the Constitutional Court's decision [on illicit enrichment] was discussed. No decision has yet been made on what effect it could have in the future. We continue to work as usual and we do not see any risks to continuing cooperation with the IMF and receiving further tranches - one in May and the next in November," Smolii said.

On February 26, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine declared unconstitutional Article 368-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which envisaged the prosecution of officials for illicit enrichment.
