Average monthly salary exceeds minimum wage twofold - Economic Development Ministry

The average nominal wage in Ukraine in January 2019 amounted to UAH 9,223, which is 2.2 times higher than the established minimum wage.

"The average nominal wage in January 2019 amounted to UAH 9,223, which is 2.2 times higher than the minimum wage. Compared to January 2018, the average nominal wage rose by 19.6%. At the same time, the real wage index in January 2019 amounted to 9.5% against January 2018,” the report says.

The ministry also noted that highest average monthly salaries were recorded in the financial and insurance sector – UAH 17,065, in the information and telecommunications sector – UAH 15,332, and in the professional, scientific, and technical services sector – UAH 12,446.

In the regional context, the largest salaries were recorded in the city of Kyiv – UAH 13,721, Donetsk region - UAH 10,045, Kyiv region - UAH 9,722 and Dnipropetrovsk region. - UAH 9,645.

As Ukrinform reported, since January 1, the minimum wage in Ukraine has grown to UAH 4,173 per month or up to UAH 25.13 per hour.
