President: Ukraine should enter European electricity market with own products

Ukraine should install power lines in Europe and enter the European electricity market with its own products.

“We have a unified power system with Russia. It is wrong! We need to install power lines in Europe as it is a powerful market there. Electricity, which will be generated here and now, will be sold in Europe. And it is right,” President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said during the launch ceremony of the first wind turbines of the Prymorsk wind power plant in Zaporizhzhia region, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to the President, Ukraine no longer needs all the volumes of electricity generated at its nuclear and renewable energy plants.

At the same time, Poroshenko stressed that the electricity supplies to Europe may contribute to getting new foreign currency earnings, strengthening national currency and enhancing energy independence.
