Government of Ukraine approves action plan for tackling poverty

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the action plan for the implementation of the Tackling Poverty Strategy for 2019.

"The Government approved the action plan for the implementation of the Tackling Poverty Strategy for 2019," the Government portal reports.

As noted, the document outlines specific measures to increase the efficiency of the employment policy, increase the monetary incomes of the population, ensure access of the population to social services, minimize the risks of poverty and social exclusion of the most vulnerable categories of the population.

In particular, it is planned to increase the efficiency of the employment policy; introduce new forms of provision of the services to the population and employers by the State Employment Service; create the national register of job vacancies with free online access and real-time updates; promote the youth employment and introduce additional incentives for employment of persons of pre-retirement age, persons with minor children and persons with disabilities; improve economic conditions of self-employment development and so on.

The Government emphasizes that the implementation of these measures will contribute to the phased tackling of poverty, introducing new mechanisms for its prevention, overcoming social exclusion, improving living standards and increasing the level of access to social services.
