As part of a USAID project, Ukraine will receive USD 85 million for reforming the energy sector.

The press service of the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko (BPP) faction reported this with reference to First Deputy Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safet, Bloc of Petro Poroshenko (BPP) MP Oleksandr Dombrovsky.

The MP took part in the presentation of the Energy Security Project, which is implemented by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Under the plan, USAID awarded USD 85 million to U.S.-based engineering and consulting firm Tetra Tech to help reform and upgrade Ukraine’s energy production, governance and distribution. The project will try to liberalize energy markets, expand natural gas, push renewable energy investment and make heating more affordable at a district level.

The MP thanked American partners, in particular, the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, USAID, U.S. Department of Energy, for an ongoing dialogue and support for energy reforms.
