Average wage in Ukraine in December exceeded UAH 10,500

The average wage in Ukraine in December 2018 made up UAH 10,573, the Government portal reports.

"The average wage in December amounted to UAH 10,573, which is 2.8 times higher the minimum wage. According to the data provided by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the growth of real wages from December to November amounted to 14.5%. The growth per year - 9.7%,” reads the report.

It is noted that the average wage in the industrial sector amounted to UAH 11,563. Significantly higher wages were recorded in the IT sector (UAH 15,518), the scientific and technical sector (UAH 15,490), insurance (over UAH 18,000). In the context of regions, the highest average wage was recorded in the city of Kyiv - UAH 16,500.

According to the Government portal, the average salary growth corresponds to calculations and forecasts of the Cabinet of Ministers. Earlier, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman stated that average salary would grow to UAH 10,000 by the end of the year. He also noted that the average salary in 2019 would grow to UAH 10,500, and this figure could be even higher on condition that there is economic growth.

Representatives of the business community made the same forecasts. So, 83% of companies - members of the American Chamber of Commerce projected an increase in the number of jobs and wages in 2019. Representatives of the European Business Association stated about an average growth of 10-15%.
