PM Groysman: Government should be more active in elaborating FTA with Turkey

The Cabinet of Ministers should be more active in elaborating a free trade agreement with Turkey in order to sign it as soon as possible.

"We worked on a quality agreement on a free market with Israel. As you know, on Monday, the President of Ukraine and [Vice PM] Stepan Kubiv, authorized by the Government of Ukraine, signed the free trade agreement with the State of Israel. Now, we are working on a free trade agreement with Turkey," Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said at the Cabinet’s meeting, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The Prime Minister instructed Stepan Kubiv to take the agreement with Turkey to its logical conclusion. "It is necessary to finalize it and open new opportunities for our markets," Groysman said.

He noted that Ukraine did not stop after concluding the free trade agreement with the European Union. "The previous government and our government have been working to create conditions for opening new opportunities and new markets. That's how the Canadian market was opened," Groysman reminded.

As reported, on January 21, Ukraine's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv and Israel's Minister of Economy and Industry Eli Cohen signed a free trade agreement between the two countries.
