Volume of foreign trade in goods grew by 12% last year

In 2018, the total volume of Ukraine’s export and import of goods reached $104.188 billion, up 12% compared with 2017.

The report on Ukraine’s foreign trade in goods was prepared by the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.

In 2018, Ukraine exported goods to the tune of $47.334 billion, up 9% compared with 2017; the import of goods into the country increased over the past year by 15% up to $56.854 billion.

The food products and agricultural products represented the largest share in the structure of domestic exports last year (39% or $18.613 billion). The metals and metals products (24.6% or $11.633 billion) was the second largest group, while the machinery, technical equipment and transport equipment (11.6% or $5.7272 billion) ranked third.

In the structure of imports, the machinery, technical equipment and transport equipment (30.6% or $17.42 billion) ranked first; fuel and energy products (23.8% or $13.521 billion) ranked second; the products of the chemical industry (18.6% or $10.603 billion) ranked third.

The geographical structure of foreign trade in goods changed significantly. In particular, the share of the CIS countries reduced (from 23% in 2017 to 15% in 2018).
