European Commission representatives to assess Ukrainian digital market

In January 2019, the official mission of the European Commission will arrive in Ukraine to assess the legal, institutional and technical infrastructure necessary for joining the EU digital community.

"In July, we submitted [to the European Commission] the roadmap for Ukraine’s integration into the digital market of the European Union. Its submission was provided for in Annex XVII of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. The European Commission is now in the process of examining this document, but already in January of next year the official mission of the European Commission is to arrive in Ukraine to assess Ukrainian legal, institutional and technical infrastructure, which will actually mark the beginning of the integration into the single digital market,” Director General of the Government Office for the Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanyshyna said during a press conference “Results of the EU-Ukraine Association Council: European Integration Agenda for 2019” at the Ukrinform news agency.

Ukraine expects to receive specific recommendations on how to deepen this process following the results of the mission’s visit, she noted.

“It’s important for us to reach a common vision and form a common action plan. We expect to have a digital liberalization plan with the EU in the first half of 2019,” Stefanyshyna said.
