European Union disburses EUR 500 mln in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine

The European Union has disbursed the first tranche of EUR 500 million under the new macro-financial assistance program to Ukraine.

"Today the EU disburses EUR 500 million of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine. The EU continues its strong engagement in Ukraine and support for its people," Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis posted on Twitter.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated that the first tranche of macro-financial assistance from the European Commission worth EUR 500 million would be disbursed in the near future.

As reported, on November 30, the European Commission approved a decision to allocate the first tranche of the fourth EU’s macro-financial assistance program to Ukraine to the tune of EUR 500 million.

The fourth EU’s macro-financial assistance program will provide a total of EUR 1 billion to Ukraine.
