Ukraine participates in first China International Import Expo

The first China International Import Expo (CIIE) and the Hongqiao International Trade Forum have kicked off in Shanghai's Hong Kong metropolis.

A Ukrainian delegation is taking part in these events, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"China will push forward multilateral and bilateral cooperation in pursuit of development," China's President Xi Jinping said, while opening the CIIE.

He called on all countries to be supporters of openness and counteract protectionism and unilateralism in trade. The head of state said China is ready to open its markets to the world and stimulate an increase in imports. According to him, in the next 15 years, China will import goods for $30 trillion.

Ukraine has a national stand at the CIIE exhibition. In total, 172 countries, regions and international organizations from five continents are demonstrating their achievements at this exhibition. The organizers hope that while the waves of protectionism and one-sidedness threaten global growth, the exhibition will promote free trade and provide confidence in the global economy.

The Ukrainian official delegation at the events in Shanghai is headed by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv. It consists of representatives of the ministries of economic development and trade, agrarian policy and food, infrastructure, information policy; the supervisory board of the Ukraine Investment Promotion Office, the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, the State Space Agency of Ukraine, the Presidential Administration, the Verkhovna Rada, Kyiv City State Administration; the Antonov State Company, Ukrgasbank, PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, JSC Ukreximbank, and a number of leading state enterprises.

During the exhibition, the head of the Ukrainian delegation will hold a series of bilateral meetings, in particular, with the leadership of Pacific Construction Group, ZTE and Huawei, as well as the heads of delegations from other participating countries. It is planned to sign a memorandum on the creation of an international platform for e-commerce for the sale of Ukrainian products to the People's Republic of China between the Bohai Commodity Exchange and the Silk Link Silk Road Association of Ukraine.
