Ukrenergo, RTE sign memorandum on development of power networks

Ukraine's national energy company Ukrenergo and France's electricity transmission system operator RTE have signed a memorandum on cooperation in the development of power networks.

Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utility Services Hennadiy Zubko said this at a joint briefing with France's Minister of State attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, after the seventh meeting of the Ukrainian-French intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Kyiv on Tuesday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Last year, Ukraine set a clear course for the integration of the Ukrainian energy system into the European one, and cooperation with the operator RTE is a big step on this path. The memorandum signed today will help implement completely innovative projects not only for Ukraine but also for the whole of Europe," Zubko said.

According to the official, during the meeting, the sides also agreed to introduce the best IT technologies in the power industry.

"Another joint project is the introduction of technologies to repair high-voltage power lines without voltage disconnection. RTE is one of the world's most prominent owners of this technology," Zubko said.

According to him, Ukraine is planning to use such experience of France.

RTE is an electricity transmission system operator in France. It is responsible for the operation, maintenance and development of the French high-voltage transmission system, which is about 100,000 kilometers long and is the largest in Europe.
