Ukraine ranks 13th in Worldsteel rating

In September 2018, Ukraine ranked 13th among 67 countries of the World Steel Association.

"In September 2018, Ukraine dropped to 13th place in the ranking of 67 countries of the World Steel Association. According to Worldsteel, Ukrainian steelworkers reduced crude steel production by 7.6% to 1.777 million tonnes in September 2018 compared to September 2017," Minprom website reports of with reference to the Worldsteel data.

At the same time, the world production increased in September by 4.4% up to 151.711 million tonnes on a year-on-year basis. In general, the growth of crude steel production was 4.7% and reached 1.346.7 million tonnes in the first nine months of this year.

The ranking is traditionally topped by China as their producers boosted steelmaking by 7.5% up to 80.85 million tonnes in September. India ranks the second as its crude steel production grew by 2.1% up to 8.52 million tonnes. Japan ranks the third with 8.418 million tonnes as it saw a production decline of 2.4%.
