Ukrainian farmers harvest almost 47 mln tonnes of grain

Ukrainian farmers have thrashed 46.8 million tonnes of grain from an area of 12 million hectares, the press service of the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry has reported.

"As of October 11, Ukrainian farmers thrashed 46.8 million tonnes of grain from an area of 12 million hectares (81%) with a yield of 39 centners per hectare," the statement said.

It notes that in particular, farmers harvested 34.3 million tonnes of early grain and leguminous from an area of 9.9 million hectares with a yield of 34.8 centners per hectare, 11.9 million tonnes of corn from an area of 1.9 million hectares (41%) with a yield of 63.1 centners per hectare, 124,000 tonnes of buckwheat from an area of 100,000 hectares (92%) with a yield of 12.4 centners per hectare, and 74,000 tonnes of millet from an area of 48,000 hectares (91%) with a yield of 15.5 centners per hectare.

In addition, Ukraine harvested 11.6 million tonnes of sunflower seeds from an area of 5.2 million hectares (87%) with a yield of 22.1 centners per hectare, 2.9 million tonnes of soybeans from an area of 1.2 million hectares (68%) with a yield of 25.2 centners per hectare, 2.7 million tonnes of rape from an area of 1 million hectares with a yield of 26.1 centners per hectare, and 5.6 million tonnes of sugar beets from an area of 116,000 hectares (41%) with a yield of 482 centners per hectare.
