Ukrainian farmers already gathered 43 mln tonnes of grain crops

Ukrainian farmers have already harvested 43.2 million tonnes of grain crops from an area of 11.5 million hectares, the press service of the Agrarian Policy Ministry reports.

“As of October 5, Ukrainian farmers threshed 43.2 million tonnes of grain crops from an area of 11.5 million hectares (77%) with a yield of 37.7 dt/ha,” reads the report.

In particular, 34.3 million tonnes of early grain and leguminous crops were harvested from an area of 9.9 million hectares with a yield of 34.8 dt/ha; 8.3 million tonnes of corn from an area of 1.4 million hectares (30%) with a yield of 60.9 dt/ha; 114 thousand tonnes of buckwheat from an area of 92 thousand hectares (85%) with a yield of 12.4 dt/ha; 68 thousand tonnes of millet from an area of 44 thousand hectares (85%) with a yield of 15.43 dt/ha.

In addition, 10.3 million tonnes of sunflower seeds were threshed from an area of 4.7 million hectares (78%) with a yield of 21.8 dt/ha; 2.3 million tonnes of soybeans from an area of 932 thousand hectares (55%) with a yield of 25.0 dt/ha; 2.7 million tonnes of rapeseed from an area of 1.0 million hectares with a yield of 26.1 dt/ha. Also, sugar beets were harvested from an area of 82 thousand hectares (29%) with a yield of 478 dt/ha.

Together with harvesting, the autumn sowing campaign is underway. Thus, farmers have already sowed 5.1 million hectares with winter crops (71%) with a projected area of 7.2 million hectares. The farmers also sowed 987 thousand hectares with winter rapeseed (111%) with a projected area of 888 thousand hectares.
