Ukraine has to implement energy efficiency projects to spend less on subsidies – Zubko

If Ukraine wants to spend less on subsidies, it has to go through the implementation of energy-efficient solutions in various spheres of life.

Vice Prime Minister - Minister for Regional Development, Construction and Utilities of Ukraine Hennadiy Zubko said this during an Hour of Questions to the Government, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“If Ukraine wants to spend less on subsidies, then energy efficiency is the way we have to go through,” Zubko said.

He cited the example of an association of co-owners of apartment buildings in Kyiv, which, thanks to energy saving measures, reduced price for heating from UAH 32 per square meter to UAH 8 per square meter during the heating season.

"Only two families from this house receive subsidies. The consumption was reduced by four times," Zubko added.

As reported, the law on energy efficiency to solve the problem of thermal modernization of business, transport, public sectors should be adopted in 2019.
