Ukraine’s Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service, Canadian delegation discuss cooperation prospects

The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the delegation from Canada discussed the results of operation of the free trade area between the countries and prospects for further cooperation.

This was discussed today during the meeting of Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Volodymyr Lapa with the Canadian delegation consisting of representatives of the Embassy of Canada in Ukraine and the agricultural associations of Canada, the Service’s press office reports.

"The parties touched upon the issues of current cooperation between Ukraine and Canada, in particular in the context of the first anniversary of operation of the free trade area between the countries. In addition, the prospects for further cooperation were discussed, including the imports of pedigree livestock and its genetic material into Ukraine as well as exports of bees and bee packages, poultry meat, egg products, apples from Ukraine to Canada," the statement reads.

During the meeting, Lapa praised fruitful and professional cooperation with Canada in the issues of compliance with international principles and standards. In turn, the trade representative of the Embassy thanked the Service for the recent signing of international veterinary certificates for pet food imports to Ukraine.
