Ukraine’s acting finance minister: Debt is biggest challenge of 2019 state budget

Next year, Ukraine should spend UAH 417.4 billion (about $14.9 billion) on debt servicing, and this sum is stipulated in the draft state budget for 2019.

"Debt is the biggest challenge of the budget for 2019. UAH 417.4 billion is an unprecedented sum that we will have to spend on debt servicing in 2019. Restructuring, which was supported by the parliament, gave us an opportunity to develop the economy in previous years. In 2019, we return to peak loads, they are fully provided for in the state budget," Acting Finance Minister of Ukraine Oksana Markarova said while presenting the draft state budget for 2019 in the Verkhovna Rada, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

She recalled that the strategy for public debt management, which was expected to reduce the debt burden on GDP by 49% in three years, had been already adopted
