Ukraine, Moldova discuss ecological problems of Dniester River

A meeting of the Permanent Moldova-Ukraine Commission on Sustainable Use and Protection of the Dniester River Basin was held in Chisinau.

"Today we have approved the Commission's action plan, setting a high standard for the solution of all the issues under consideration. I am glad to note that representatives of many international organizations, diplomats accredited in Chisinau, members of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, representatives of the UN and the OSCE take part in today's meeting ... Today we practically have laid the foundation for further productive bilateral dialogue,” said Deputy Ecology and Natural Resources Minister of Ukraine Mykola Kuzyo, an Ukrinform correspondent reports from Moldova.

The deputy minister stressed that the Ukrainian government took very careful and responsible attitude towards the environmental issues, in particular, the protection of the Dniester River basin.

The first meeting of the Moldova-Ukraine Commission on Sustainable Use and Protection of the Dniester River Basin was attended by representatives of different agencies of Ukraine and Moldova, including its Transnistrian region, which deal with the exploitation and protection of the river's water resources.
