Groysman: Ukraine should refuse from anthracite and increase gas coal production

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman has said that Ukraine should fully refuse from anthracite and increase the production of gas coal.

"Ukrainian anthracite coal is in occupation area in Ukrainian Donbas. We have to do everything to refuse from anthracite and increase the production of gas coal as much as we can,” Groysman told journalists when visiting the Heroiv Kosmosu mine administration in Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk region, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to him, a few years ago the state consumed 9 million tonnes of total balance of anthracite coal, while at present it consumes 4.3 million tonnes.

"This means we have halved [the consumption]. This year we will transfer four other power units to gas coal. The task is to produce domestic coal for absolutely all needs of the energy complex,” Groysman stressed.
