Ukraine has to send $33 bln to service foreign debt within 5 years

Ukraine has to return $33 billion in external borrowing in the next five years.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said this at a press meeting within the framework of the 13th plenary meeting of heads of foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"In the next five years, we need to return $33 billion, which was accumulated and formed as the principal debt from 2005 to 2013. Imagine the serious burden we have when we are obliged to allocate at least 5% of GDP to support the Ukrainian army," he said.

In his opinion, the state should increase the amount of funding for the defense sector.

At the same time, the head of government recalled that Ukraine would send UAH 130 billion, or $5 billion, to service the external debt in 2018.
