Ukraine not importing gas from Russia for 1,000 days – Ukrtransgaz

Ukraine has not been importing natural gas from the Russian Federation for 1,000 days, according to PJSC Ukrtransgaz, the operator of Ukraine's gas transportation system.

"Our third winter without Russian gas. We have not been importing gas from Russia for 1,000 days," reads the report.

"Symbolically, on the eve of the Independence Day, we will cross the mark of 1,000 days, as we import gas only from the western border,” Maksym Bilyavskiy, an adviser to the Energy and Coal Industry Minister, wrote on his Facebook page.

At the same time, Ukraine continues to transit gas to Europe from the Russian direction.

Ukraine refused to purchase Russian gas in late November 2015.
