The Governments of Ukraine and the State of Qatar intend to establish a Joint Commission for Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation.

"On August 22, the Government decided to establish a Joint Commission for Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the State of Qatar," the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine reported.

The agreement on the creation of the commission was reached during the official visit of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on March 20, 2018, following his talks with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha.

The joint commission will enable the establishment of an effective mechanism for coordinating the actions of both parties in the context of development and deepening of interaction in the trade and economic spheres, as well as monitoring the practical implementation of the relevant agreements.

According to the Economic Development and Trade Ministry, Qatar is a major trading partner of Ukraine in the Middle East. According to the results of 2017, the trade turnover between Ukraine and Qatar increased by 38.3% compared to the previous year and reached almost $53.5 million. The exports of goods from Ukraine to Qatar in the same period increased 3.4 times and amounted to $42.3 million.
