Deposit portfolio in national currency grew by 1.5% in July 2018 – NBU

The deposit portfolio of banks in the national currency grew by 1.5% to UAH 515.4 billion in July 2018, the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) reports.

"In July 2018, banks actively attracted funds – the portfolio of hryvnia deposits in the banking system grew by 1.5% to UAH 515.4 billion. Banks were more active in attracting business funds last month. The balance of funds on corporate accounts increased by 3.6% to UAH 395.7 billion,” reads the report.

The outstanding amount of business deposits in the national currency insolvent banks grew by 6.3% to about UAH 260.0 billion. At the same time, deposits of enterprises in foreign currency decreased by 3.3% to $5.0 billion dollars (in dollar equivalent).

Unlike corporate deposits, the hryvnia's cash surplus of households insolvent banks in July declined by 3.1% to about UAH 254.7 billion, which was mainly due to seasonal factors.

At the same time, the inflow of funds of individuals in foreign currency in July grew by 1.9% to $8.6 billion (in dollar equivalent). The households’ deposits in July grew by 0.2% to UAH 485.6 billion.
