Ukraine’s sugar exports down 46% in July 2018 – Ukrtsukor

Ukrainian sugar producers exported 36.7 thousand tonnes of sugar in July 2018, the press service of the Ukrtsukor National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine reports.

"In July of the current marketing year, Ukrainian sugar producers exported 36.7 thousand tonnes of sugar, which is 46% less compared with the previous month,” reads the report.

Head of the analytical department at Ukrtsukor, Ruslana Butylo, noted that the main deliveries of sugar were made to Uzbekistan - 89%. Also, Ukrainian sugar was exported to Moldova (4%), Azerbaijan (53%), and Tajikistan (3%).

In September-July 2017/2018 MY, Ukrainian producers exported 538.0 thousand tonnes of sugar, which is 26% less than in the same period last year.

As reported, the current acreage under sugar beet makes up 280 thousand hectares, which is 13% less than last year. About 40 sugar refineries will operate during the current season.
