Ukrainian confectionery companies entering Canadian market – CUCC President

Manufacturers of confectionery products from Ukraine have agreed with Canadian distributors on entering the Canadian market.

President of the Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce (CUCC) Zenon Potichny said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

"Ukrainian suppliers of confectionery products managed to find distributors at exhibitions in Canada and began to supply products overseas," said Potichny.

According to him, Ukrainian furniture manufacturers also successfully entered the Canadian market. "Several companies managed to conclude agreements and sold even those things that were brought specially for the exhibition," Potichny noted.

He added that the Canadian side received several requests from companies that would like to come to Ukraine and inspect the capacity of enterprises before concluding contracts.

"Therefore, there is a great deal of interest in the trade between Canada and Ukraine," said Potichny.

As reported, the free trade agreement between Canada and Ukraine came into force on August 1, 2017. The agreement cancels 98% of tariffs for Ukrainian goods that will be sold to Canada. Some 72% of tariffs are immediately canceled for Canadian goods, and in the next seven years duty free exports will grow to 98%.
