Russia increases gas transit through territory of Ukraine by 20% due to Nord Stream's repairs

Russia increased the transit of gas through the territory of Ukraine by 20% during the repair works at the Nord Stream gas pipeline.

This was reported by the press service of PJSC Ukrtransgaz.

"The Nord Stream pipeline was closed for repairs for two weeks. During this period, the average daily volume of gas transit from Russia to European countries via Ukraine’s gas transportation system increased by 20%. The GTS of Ukraine once again confirmed the status of an optimal route for the transportation of Russian gas to European consumers," the report reads.

The company adds that, in contrast to underwater bypass gas pipes, the "Ukrainian stream" is the shortest and does not need regular stops for maintenance and repair.

As a result of July, the transit of gas through the territory of Ukraine increased by 17% compared to the same month in 2017.

As Ukrinform reported, on July 17, Russia suspended the work of the Nord Stream pipeline until July 31 due to scheduled repairs.
