Poroshenko hails EU sanctions against Russian companies for construction of Crimean Bridge

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has welcomed the decision of the European Union to impose sanctions on six legal entities involved in the illegal construction of the Kerch Strait Bridge.

The head of state wrote this on Twitter. 

"I welcome the decision of the Council of the European Union to impose sanctions against six legal entities involved in the illegal construction of the Kerch Strait Bridge," Poroshenko said.

He also added that he had instructed the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to continue work on the further strengthening of sanctions against the Russian aggressor and any individuals or legal entities involved in the attempted annexation and temporary occupation of the Ukrainian Crimea.

As reported, the EU imposed sanctions against Russian companies for the construction of the Kerch Strait Bridge.

The respective decision of July 30 was published on Tuesday in the Official Journal of the European Union.

Thus, from July 31, the EU sanctions apply to JSC Institute Giprostroymost St. Petersburg, JSC Zaliv Shipyard, Stroygazmontazh-Most LLC and Vologda-based JSC VAD.

In addition, two companies controlled by tycoon Arkady Rotenberg - PJSC Mostotrest and Stroygazmontazh LLC, which were previously included in the U.S. sanctions list - are also subject to the EU sanctions.
