"According to the scientists of the Institute of Agricultural Economics, the share of exports of agricultural products in Ukraine’s total exports over the first six months of 2018 exceeded 37%," the press service of the National Scientific Center "Institute of Agricultural Economics" reports with reference to deputy director Mykola Puhachov.

Puhachov informed that, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the exports of agricultural products in January-June 2018 remained almost at the level of last year's figures for the corresponding period (-2%), having exceeded USD 8.6 billion.

In the first half of 2018, the cost of exports of poultry meat increased from $196 million to $241 million, the cost of oil exports grew from $45 million to $74 million. The reason was the rising prices for those types of agricultural products, Puhachov explained.

As reported, in 2017/2018 marketing year Ukrainian farmers exported 39.4 million tons of grain crops totaling $6.4 billion to foreign markets.
