Nearly 25,000 Ukrainians refused entry to Poland in H1, 2018

A total of 24,902 Ukrainians were refused entry to Poland in the first half of 2018, which was 43% more than in the same period in 2017, the Polish Border Guard has reported at the request of an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The decision on refusal to enter Polish territory in the first half of 2018 was received by a total of 24,902 Ukrainian citizens, in particular 24,649 people on the border with Ukraine," reads the report.

It says that more than 10,622 refusals (40% of the total number) were issued due to the absence of proper documents for Ukrainians that would justify the purpose of entry and conditions of stay in Poland.

For comparison, 14,197 Ukrainians were not allowed to enter Poland in the first half of 2017, in particular 13,963 people on the border with Ukraine.

According to tentative figures, about a million Ukrainian labor migrants could stay in Poland now, and their number is growing.
