Government supports low carbon development strategy of Ukraine until 2050

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a document supporting the strategy for transitioning the Ukrainian economy to a low carbon development model, which provides for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, abandoning fossil fuels and investing in renewable energy sources.

This has been reported by the press service of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry.

“This document envisages emissions reduction and increase of greenhouse gases absorption, introduction of environmentally safe production using ‘green’ technologies in all sectors of the economy,” said Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Ostap Semerak.

According to him, after the protocol decision to support the proposal of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry is approved, Ukraine's strategy for the low carbon development until  2050 will be sent to the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change for the approval at the international level.
